It's not just a...

 Hello team of 5 million!

This week we've had some incredibly motivated and independent students completing learning tasks at home. One of our writing tasks was to watch this clip about Stick Dude

We were then challenged to write a poem about a cardboard box (or another object) and the potential it has for playing with. The goal was to be as creative as possible!

Once we had written our poems we then had to practise performing it before recording it.

Special shout out to Karolina who has very kindly allowed us to share her poem on the class blog as she is having some technical difficulties posting it on to her own blog at home.

My Empty Pringles Box

It is not just an empty box!

It is a mega phone!

It is a unicorn horn!

It is a telescope 🔭!

It is a tower!

It is a mini sky tower!

It is a musical instrument!

It is a sword ⚔️!

It is for storing my little things!

It is more than JUST a Pringles Box!

IT'S MY FAVOURITE BOREDOM BUSTER!

Karolina has done a fabulous job of recording her poem and you can check out here performance below.

We challenge you to have a go at writing a poem like Stick Dude and Karolina - it can be about anything you have lying around at home or in your backyard (If your stuck for ideas you could write a poem about a old sock, a tin can, or an old tyre!). Remember, the more the creative, the better! Write your poem in the comments below!

BluGuru Performance

Hay Park School was very fortunate to have Parvan & Josh from BluGuru visit today. It was a great mix of Indian music and dance. We LOVED it!

STOMP Dance

Today we had the girls from STOMP visit Hay Park School. Keep reading to get an insight into how Jamal and Rhia felt about their lesson.

Jamal: Today we had STOMP - but as you know there are two kinds of STOMP - we had the dancing STOMP not the group with rubbish cans, percussion and more.

We danced with a mixup of songs. For every single song we had at least one action and the instructors names were Ange and Sienna. They came to Hay Park School to teach us some cool dancing moves and to see our groove.

When we started, we started with simple moves then it got harder and harder and harder. We had fun then… IT GOT REALLY FUN LIKE IT WAS A PARTY!. There was songs like "Kei Kei do you love me" and more but my favourite song was Rolex and Kei Kei. I liked all of the songs that they did.

Rhia: Have you ever heard of the Dance Company STOMP?

If you haven’t then here is some information about them. Their names are Ange and Sienna, they taught us some cool dance moves and also some skills to make it more extreme. They are really good dancers, I learned a lot from them.

We danced to 4 songs, they were "Kiki do you love me" from Drake, "Undecided" from Chris Brown, "Rolex" from Ayo and Teo and "I like it like that" from Cardi B. Some of those songs I sometimes listen to on YouTube only if I want to dance or listen to music. We also learnt and did some dance moves like the Hype, Wrist showoff, Under the fence, Rolling your hands, sidewalk, swimming waves and the dab.
