Responsibility at Hay Park School

Hi bloggers,

It's our first week back after a lovely two week holiday. Williams Class have been thinking carefully about what they can do to show our school value of: RESPONSIBILITY.

We successfully worked collaboratively to create this google slideshow. Each slide explains what we can do a Hay Park to be a responsible learner. There are several different settings that we have covered in our slideshow.

Matariki is Coming!

Kia ora bloggers,

Did you know a special time of year is approaching in New Zealand? It is called Matariki!

In Williams Class we started our learning off by creating a KWL chart. You can check these out on our individual blogs by clicking the names over here ---------------->

We also created some diamante poems about the seven sisters of matariki. Here a few of the fabulous poems that students in Williams Class wrote.

On the second to last day of term we also had a special matariki celebration and cultural day. Here are some of Williams Class dressed in their cultural clothes. They look pretty spectacular!

When I was younger, my siblings and I loved reading the Harry Potter Books. In fact, they were so popular in my family, even my Mum loved to read them! As we got older, J K Rowling released more books in the series. Mum would only ever buy 1 copy of the book though, which meant there would always be arguments about who would read the book first. My Mum, brother and sister were all really fast readers so they all read the books before me. I didn't mind though. Being the last one to read the book meant I could take my time and read slowly, often rereading my favourite parts about the wonderful wizarding world.

J K Rowling captured my imagination with magical spells and nail-biting battles. I love the Harry Potter Series! The books are WAY better than the movies. You should go ahead and read them!

Football Fun!

Kia orana bloggers!

On Fridays, we have Dan from the Three Kings Football Association coach us for football. We had our first session last week. We learnt how to dribble the ball by playing red light, green light.

Practising our dribbling skills.

After that,  we had a mini game where we had small teams verse each other. It was pretty hot and tiring work, so next week we need to remember our water bottles!

Mini games, red team vs blue team!

Visit our blog in another few weeks to check out our improved football skills!
