STOMP Dance

Today we had the girls from STOMP visit Hay Park School. Keep reading to get an insight into how Jamal and Rhia felt about their lesson.

Jamal: Today we had STOMP - but as you know there are two kinds of STOMP - we had the dancing STOMP not the group with rubbish cans, percussion and more.

We danced with a mixup of songs. For every single song we had at least one action and the instructors names were Ange and Sienna. They came to Hay Park School to teach us some cool dancing moves and to see our groove.

When we started, we started with simple moves then it got harder and harder and harder. We had fun then… IT GOT REALLY FUN LIKE IT WAS A PARTY!. There was songs like "Kei Kei do you love me" and more but my favourite song was Rolex and Kei Kei. I liked all of the songs that they did.

Rhia: Have you ever heard of the Dance Company STOMP?

If you haven’t then here is some information about them. Their names are Ange and Sienna, they taught us some cool dance moves and also some skills to make it more extreme. They are really good dancers, I learned a lot from them.

We danced to 4 songs, they were "Kiki do you love me" from Drake, "Undecided" from Chris Brown, "Rolex" from Ayo and Teo and "I like it like that" from Cardi B. Some of those songs I sometimes listen to on YouTube only if I want to dance or listen to music. We also learnt and did some dance moves like the Hype, Wrist showoff, Under the fence, Rolling your hands, sidewalk, swimming waves and the dab.

How did we come to be Williams Class?

Kia ora bloggers!

You may be wondering where the names "Williams Class" came from! Hay Park School has a long standing tradition where the classes are named after NZ artists.

This year, the children in Room 6 had 3 fantastic artists to choose from.
1. Tracey Tawhiao
2. Charles & Janine Williams
3. Blake Beckford

Room 6 discussed their likes and dislikes about each artwork, before voting on their favourite artist and works.

Our winner, with the majority of votes was Charles and Janine Williams! and that's how Room 6 came to be "Williams Class".
